Abi + Mandi | St. Louis Maternity Photographer » Heather Roth Fine Art Photography

I guess with any job it’s always a challenge to find a work-life balance. So what do I like to do in my spare time? Well, I like to plan styled shoots, of course! 🙂 My good friend, Abi, is an identical twin. Mandi is her sister, and they are just three weeks a part in their maternity! I can hear you … I know! Crazy, yes! In college, the History of Photography was part of the core curriculum and one of my favorite classes. I loved learning about the lifestyle of photographers (past and present) and why they photographed what they did. A popular photographer of the 60’s, and one of my favorites, is Diane Arbus. Arbus would photograph twins, dwarfs, giants, circus performers, basically unusual + unique people. I guess that was the start of my fascination for twins. I wanted to photograph them too! Lucky me, the idea of Abi and Mandi being pregnant at the same time called for a special shoot.

To get things started, I had to pull an amazing team together. These things can’t be done alone! Jan Leach, St. Louis Magazine’s very-own, Wardrobe Stylist & Style Editor, helped with the outfits! She is absolutely fantastic. She knows all the great places to shop, how to shop on a budget + get the right outfit for the right body-type. Even preggo soon-to-be mamas. 🙂 I wanted these girls to feel special and pretty – not that these little things had anything to worry about! They looked gorgeous. I’ve personally never been pregnant, but many of my friends have … and it sounds so scary. ha! Feeling round and fluffy, swollen face and legs, aching back. eeeee. Scares me just thinking about it.

Nicole Brown of NB Artistry, one of my favorite make up artists in town, made up their pretty faces. Angie Norwood from Shear Gossip Salon, did the hair! These ladies are so talented and made it all come together.
