Have you ever wondered about the best time to take portraits at the St. Louis Arch during peak wedding season? Wait for it to rain! We practically had the grounds to ourselves – and that neeevvver happens. You might have caught the last wedding post… Like Chelsea + Jim, Erin + Greg also live in Chicago and had their ceremony at the Old Cathedral. Does anyone else find that as ironic as I do?
Most of my favorite photos from a wedding are usually of just the couple, so after the ceremony and before the rain set in, I concentrated on Erin + Greg. Good thing I started with the couple first… and moved quickly, because as we were heading to the Arch to meet the wedding party it started pouring. I could watch the radar all day and never believe it. So I continued to take photos of the wedding party under the Arch entrance to keep them out of the rain. Luckily, it let up a little and everyone rallied! Next stop Old Hickory Golf Club.
I really love these two! Erin is another fun bride who sends me the sweetest + funniest texts. I’m sure not every couple wants to have fun with their hired help, i.e. me, on their wedding day, but these two made me feel right at home! 🙂 What other couple would race me in a golf cart on the grounds of Old Hickory?! And ya’ll know I love to shoot in open fields, so would you believe it if I told you that in the very first photo in this post, there’s a Burger King directly behind them? It’s times like this when one just needs to trust their photographer. 🙂
Stay tuned, our next wedding feature will be after the New Year.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! See you next year!
