Heart Deco | Styled Love Shoot

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY everyone!

It’s one of my favorite “holidays” and it just so happens to land during my “slow season!” Yeah, right! In our industry there is no such thing. 🙂 I’m always busy! Last year, I had the opportunity to work with some talented vendors on a personal project called Lucky in Love for St. Pat’s day! AND this year…duntdunt dunt daaaah… I wanted to do something focused on Valentine’s Day!

My parents got married on this special day 43 years ago, so I really wanted to create a fun, decorative Valentine’s Day shoot inspired by their love, as well as their passion for all things vintage. So I got one of my favorite gals, Kristin Weis, with Kristin Ashely Events involved in the crazy plan that was full of reds, bold golds/brass, blacks and creams, inspired by the vintage capes (we used) and the magical era of the 20’s. We worked together to create HEART DECO, a love shoot inspired by the Art Deco period. Of course that meant reaching out to other fab vendors in our industry who LOVE collaborating on personal styled shoots …wait for it … just for fun! Who wouldn’t?! Anyway, I was super excited how it all came together with the help of everyone involved. Their ideas and added hints of love really helped make the setting so pretty and sophisticated. Now is the part where I feel like Adele, and I’m thanking everyone for my 4th Grammy – only I’m thanking them for being a part of the shoot! So I’ll start with the flowers, created by the talented + progressive designer, Becky Huffman! I hope this post influences my brides to get a cascading bouquet – I just love it! The hair + make up by Holly Speakes with ProColour Salon & Cosmetics – LOVE all those pin curls! And that adorable little cake was specially made by Sarah’s Cake Shop & Catering Co. in Chesterfield. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have any of it. Darn it! And the beautiful stationery! It’s amazing what you can find when you google it. Hello Tenfold is talented.period. – and now I’m running out of time to thank everyone and the music starts. Not really, you are probably just getting bored at this point. So moving on!

Our couple, Annalise + Dave, *BIG shout out and *THANK YOU for being our “models for the day!” This cute little pair have been married for almost 4 years, and were perfect to show off their love in our shoot. Annalise was absolutely the perfect gal to wear the wedding gown from Simply Elegant Bridal – doesn’t she just rock those poses! 😉 We also paired the gown with the vintage red cape and the cream & black art deco cape (both from my Mother’s vintage clothing collection)!

So take a walk through time, onto a moss covered brick estate (*thank you, Suzy B!) The weather for the shoot was super cold and misty with rain, but hopefully the images will warm your heart. What modern gal wouldn’t fancy a wedding inspired by the roaring 20’s or maybe the Charleston as her first dance? Get inspired! Make your wedding day or special occasion unique to you – and don’t forget … reach out to some great industry vendors who will pour their heart into it.

I hope Cupid shoots you with his arrow, because we all deserve that special kind of love.
