Go Cards! Honestly, I’ve never been good at sports or into them for that matter. Ohhhh, those silly high school sports, ugh! I get nervous just thinking about it. I was always picked last, while I hid behind all my friends and mouthed “please don’t pick me!” I was more of the Artist-type. 😉 But there is one sport that makes me think of my Grandma Brown. Baseball. Granted I really only knew one team and that was the Kansas City Royals. I knew every player by heart. But that was in 1988. Lord knows I have no idea who is on the team now, and I’ve only just begun to know all the players on the Cardinal’s team. (I’ve been spotting the cute ones first … ahem, David Freese! At least he looks cute on the TV!) So the hubby and I watched the game while I was preparing this pretty wedding post.
Steph and Jason live in Cape Girardeau! This is the third time I’ve photographed a wedding there. First it was Rebecca + Matt’s wedding, and then Rebecca’s sister, Lisa’s wedding, and then Steph (who was in Lisa’s wedding). 😉 See how that works? I love that! So when we finally arrived from our morning commute down south, I could see the relief in Steph’s pretty little face that her photographer had arrived. They made us feel so welcome and I could tell she was really excited for us to be there. We really appreciate that!
So I’m really excited to share this 9.10.11 wedding – of course the most requested date for 2011! And the props were for real this time! Ha! We really did have to use umbrellas and take a little break waiting for the rain to subside. Steph’s mom lives out in the boonies, which I was so giddy about photographing. And I HAD to post the cows. They wanted to join the fun too! Kiss until the cows come home??? Isn’t that a saying or famous quote? Speaking of cows, did ya’ll see Steph and Jason’s awesome engagement session at Steph’s dad’s farm? Check it out here!
The key elements to getting beautiful photos – time and cooperation. 😉 Don’t be mad at me, but a small wedding party is the best – just like this one! I like big ones too, only if they are on their best behavior. 🙂 They should know and respect that they are there for ONE good reason – to support the couple and to help them get some amazing wedding photos. Thanks fabulous wedding party, we had such a blast with y’all! xox
I like to think of this wedding as J. Crew meets rural America. Wedding planners, Kim and Dwight Tanksley of Dwight’s Designs helped make this a really beautiful celebration. The bride even had a donut bar. I.love.donuts.
Steph + Jason, thank you so much for making us feel so special on your BIG day. We love you and hope you enjoy the photos!
Enjoy some of my favorites!
