Umang + Joe | Tulsa, Oklahoma Hindu Wedding

How in the world can I fit 4 amazing days of beautiful festivities in one blog post?! Well, I had a hard time, so I chose 63 fantastic images (from over 4000+) that will give you a little story of this Hindu wedding. I’m absolutely in my element when I shoot an Indian wedding. The color, the details, the culture, and the family hospitality. I love every minute of it! And now my goal is to shoot at least one a year! 🙂 For this stunning fête, we traveled to Tulsa, OK (super cute hometown of the bride!) to celebrate Umang + Joe’s Indian fusion wedding weekend.

We captured all the customary moments starting Thursday with the Mendhi and Lady Sangeet + Chunni Chadanna Ceremony. Friday’s Santh and Mhaya + Chudha Ceremony for the groom’s side and ending the day with the rehearsal dinner. Saturday was the first BIG Hindu day (with Sunday being a Christian ceremony) starting at 6:30AM. Yes, 6:30AM. 🙂 I’m totally not a morning person, but this is one thing I’m happy to get out of bed for! 😉  The sun wasn’t even in the sky when we began with details and the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. Once it rose, the light hit our room at just the perfect time –  while Umang was having her special touches added – including jewelry (the decision of which piece was held until this moment) her veil and bracelets (two really significant pieces). It’s so incredible to watch all this happening and to be behind the lens. I just have to squeeze myself into the right spot since there are so many involved in this process. 😉 Seriously, how much do you love that warm golden light during those moments? And the bride is pretty stunning, yeah?!

This day was all made possible by a pretty cool group of girls – KI Weddings based out of Dallas. Their design, direction, help and coordination for each day was immensely appreciated. Ryan and I loved working with this talented bunch! We also worked with a pretty stellar pair from Hoo Films, the videographers based out of San Diego. (Watch the video in the link!!) It’s nice that when you have a limited amount of space and time to work, that we can really work as a team and allow each other to capture the best moments without being in the way.

Umang + Joe. Oh man. These two. They constantly told us thank you, including their sweet families, throughout the entire weekend, and sentiments like this warm my heart. I can’t thank them enough for believing in us. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with them. Our first foray into the Indian experience was a few years ago with another amazing couple, Mayur + Sonya. We’ve had other potential couples reach out only to ask if we have much experience shooting Indian weddings. Umang + Joe didn’t have to ask, they just believed in us. Details included a 72 ft stage with so many floral arrangements and lit candles that I lost count. The ceremony room was then swapped to quickly prepare for the reception that evening. A floating cake layered with real roses? Need I say more? Sit back and see their vision come to life!

Enjoy the photos! Aaaaaand we are still looking for another Indian wedding to capture in 2015 – who’s in?! 🙂
