Brittney + John | St. Louis Wedding Photography

I’m just a weeeebit obsessed with this stunner of a wedding! Maybe because I love historical homes, black & white stripes, Southern flair and dancing before dinner. 🙂 Brittney grew up in the Central West End of St. Louis – an eclectic little nook of the city cram-packed with beautiful one-of-a-kind residential gems – perfect venues for special occasions. Of course, I googled the property before the big day assuming I would find some interesting history. This is an excerpt from the St. Louis Dispatch, from guest + writer Shiela Rhoades.

“This impressive home was built in 1906 by St. Louis architect J.B. Legg. Oil millionaire William Cullen McBride purchased the house in 1908, and thereafter it became known as the party house on WT. McBride held fantastical parties here, including his daughter’s memorable 1921 debutante ball, “Night in Venice.” Guests were greeted by gondoliers to transport them across a huge man-made, lighted moat. The three-story mansion is made up of 25 rooms, totaling 11,000 square feet.”

Now this family can add another piece of family history to the home – the marriage of their oldest daughter! Talk about an amazing place to have a tent wedding. So when Brittney, a rehabber of these historical-type properties, asked us to photograph her wedding what could I say? Ummmm, YES! (Duh!) If you’d like to see their stellar engagement session click here.

With John being from New Orleans, the reception embraced some of his hometown flair and a few of his favorite things including old-fashioned cocktails, masquerade masks, a scotch bar, and a kickin’ 6 piece instrumental band – the Funky Butt Brass Band. Scroll to the very bottom of this post to see all the fabulous vendors who poured their time + talent in to make this one amazing event. (Just so you know how wonderful this family is – Brittney took a moment to step away from their reception to give us big thankful hugs while we were having dinner inside. I felt warm + fuzzy – love that gal!)

Every guest at this wedding had a good time. When I first meet with couples, I always ask what they want from their big day. 99% of them answer the same: they want their friends + family to have a kick a** time!! Holla!

Enjoy the photos!
